I just love Courtland And though Callie has been a bit grating through the whole series it was great to see them finally act on the feelings they have both had for years That was a great childhood love story Great ending and now Kasy Michaels is going to be starting a new book on the search for the Empress with the modern day Beckets How fun I am not sure if is going to be a series or not But that looks to be a great plot, especially seeing what similarities these Beckets have to the old o I just love Courtland And though Callie has been a bit grating through the whole series it was great to see them finally act on the feelings they have both had for years That was a great childhood love story Great ending and now Kasy Michaels is going to be starting a new book on the search for the Empress with the modern day Beckets How fun I am not sure if is going to be a series or not But that looks to be a great plot, especially seeing what similarities these Beckets have to the old ones This is the 7th and the conclusion of Beckets of Romney Marsh. Courtland Becket had been abused at the hands of his biological father when Ainsley Becket rescued and adopted him, raising him, from that day forward, as his own Afraid to trust that Ainsley wouldn t Courtland loved Isabella and spent as much time with her as possible He opened his heart and his mouth for her On the day that Isabella died, Court promised to always protect Cassandra, the only child by blood of Isabella and Ainsley Becket his sister.Cassandra Becket has always loved Courtland She has always been aware that they are not related by blood Now that she is of age she has decided she s waited long enough for Court to notice her in a new light, so she takes the bull by the horns, so to speak and takes the advice her sisters and sisters in law give her on the best way to seduce the man she loves. The Becket clan is gearing up for the final confrontation with Edmund Beales, Ainsley s former partner They know it is coming and they know it will be an all or nothing fight What they don t know is how Beales will strike or when Cassandra knows that time is limited so she has to make her move despite the preparations for battle the family is facing Will she be able to convince Courtland that theirs is a true love before it s too late All the Becket clan are present for the final installment of the Becket s of Romney Marsh series In Becket s Last Stand, Kasey Michaels told a wonderful story and neatly wrapped all the loose ends for the Becket s A very satisfying ending to a very enjoyable series The Romney Marsh series is my favorite of Michaels series thus far, so much so that this is my second time reading Cassandra and Court s romance was sweet and yet being so long in coming it was often done in shorter moments than the others because it was dominated by the long awaited clash between Ainsley Becket and his nemesis Edmund Beales Their confrontation was largely satisfying but to do this story justice it needed a fewpages Michaels has a gift for engaging varied but to do this story justice it needed a fewpages Michaels has a gift for engaging varied characters that made me eager to know what will happen to them next, including ongoing secondary characters Bringing not only this novel but the series to an end left too much to deal with a romance, Eleanor s dangerous pregnancy, Odette s illness, the culmination of the Ainsley Becket Edmund Beales saga, and a farewell to 17 beloved members of the close knit Becket clan as many of them say longterm goodbyes to each other Loose ends were inevitable, but we are left with too many and a plot hole or two Half the Beckets were absent for too much of the action Despite much build up, the final confrontation between the beloved Odette and her evil sister Loringa happens entirely offstage with Loringa deserting Beales at a critical moment which doesn t quite ring true I did love Alejandro as the hero who proved Beales final downfall literally Too many goodbyes were ignored But the final scene was a wonderful grace note that I wished was a foreshadowing of one final novel Michaels left me wanting muchof these characters. Some final general comments Since Chase and Julia from novel 1 were my favorites of all the Becket couples and since this was a series about a father and his 8 beloved children, the growing cast of grandchildren as the series proceeded got short shrift, but particularly Chase and Julia s younger children We never learn their names or genders That never rang true for this family. And what s with all the green eyed characters At least one of each couple has them, sometimes both Having green eyes myself I know they are just not that common. Finally, will we get a future Becket generation series with the Empress surfacing again I m waiting Booklist says As loyal attack, and all Courtland can think about is Callie, whom he promised to protect She has been in love with Court her whole life and everyone knows it, but Court still thinks of her as a child During the ensuing battle, however, Court realizes that his love has changed But will they survive to have a happy ending The conclusion of the Becket saga is filled with action and romance, leaving Michaels fans feeling elated, satisfied, and not just a little sad to say farewell to such beloved characters An action packed ending to a 7 book series that focuses on a couple that was a little problematical for me.Courtland Becket is adopted he had a terrible crush on his adopted mom, and basically took over the care of her child, Cassandra, when she was killed. He s in his 30s Cassandra is 18 He loves privateer, from being hanged, and Cassandra, who looks uncannily like her mother, is in the sights of the man who framed their dad.Well, needless to say, Court falls for the brat s charms, dad is saved, and they all lived HEA.Not a lot of sex scenes in this one for which I m glad I have enjoyed this story I have not read the other books for this series, Sound like they could be good Loved dependable Courtland and was happy to see him with Cally at the end. For years Courtland Becket had denied himself the only woman who stirred his blood, yet he could no longer pretend to ignore the lovely Cassandra For gone was the girl he had once teased replaced by a fully grown woman, adamant that they act on their long denied feelings It was time for the self appointed protector of all things Becket to allow himself a taste of the forbiddenBut passion s price might very well prove too high when an age old enemy returns to wreak revenge against the entire Becket clan, leaving Courtland torn between his newfound loveand his duty to the family that means to him than life itself
